Good morning, Baltimore! It's 1962, and spunky plus-size teen Tracy Turnblad has one big dream -- to dance on the popular Corny Collins Show. When she finally gets her shot, she's transformed from social outcast to sudden star. In balancing her new-found power with her desire for justice, Tracy fights to dethrone the reigning Miss Teen Hairspray, Amber von Tussle, and integrate a TV network in the process. With the help of her outsized mom, Edna, and guest DJ Motormouth Maybelle, the rhythm of Tracy's new beat just might prove unstoppable.".

Our Programs

ShowBiz Kidz is a theatrical training program for children ages four to twelve. We typically do three productions per year;  two musicals and a straight play.  Auditions are held the first week after an intensive Audition Workshop where each student is prepared for the audition with monologues and/or scenes and taught song and dance combinations, if it is a musical.  Emphasis is given to scripts that offer a wide variety of parts and a chance to put each student’s unique talent to good use. Every student enrolled is guaranteed a part in the play and we live up to our motto, “Where every kidz’ a Star!” by ensuring each cast member is given their turn in the spotlight.

ShowBiz Starz is a theatrical training program for teen-agers ages thirteen to twenty-one.  It was an offshoot of ShowBiz Kidz in September 2000 to handle the growing enrollment and designed to challenge older students by offering one production from the classical repertoire each season.  Emphasis is placed on broadening the actor’s technique and preparing those students wishing to pursue a professional career that includes college or university instruction.

ShowBiz Starz students are expected to uphold our “Principle of A.W.E.” and strive to have great Attitude, Work ethic and Energy and Enthusiasm at every rehearsal and performance.  Because we only rehearse once a week, we expect students to work independently on everything they are taught and prepare it for presentation to the directing staff at the next rehearsal.  Excessive absences and tardiness are not tolerated and can result in a student being dismissed from the company.

Big Girl Productions was founded in 2001 to offer an alternative to the typical community theatre faire. Our plays are usually adaptations from great works of literature (like Pride and Prejudice), and from classical theater e.g. Shakespeare or Moliere. At Big Girl Productions our motto is "Theatre with a BROAD Perspective" -- A BROAD spectrum of theatrical periods and styles, and BROAD feature of dominant female characters and women’s' issues. To that end we usually feature gender blind casting to offer more female roles in classical theatre.
